Tribes That Care
Everybody gets to play... everybody should play... no one should opt out and, no one should take the easy way out. It's not how life is meant to be lived in tribes that care. So if you care about your neighborhood, community and the world then find a place to give whatever you have to give.
As humans we are wired for purpose, to care about others, to support our tribe. In challenging times, like now, we often wonder how to make a difference in a way that is meaningful, yet doesn't suck up all our time and resources. There's lots of meaningful ways to invest yourself.
Start with yourself. What things in the world around you make you sad, angry or troubled? Or, on the flip side what are the things that make you very happy, fills your soul or stimulates more good? What's triggering your emotions? Does the issue affect you or someone you love? Is it high on your 'justice' meter or a way to live out your convictions and values? Without an understanding of what you truly care about your time and resources may not have the impact you really seek.
Next, decide where you want to invest. Do you want to invest locally, nationally, internationally? Is it important to invest yourself beyond a financial donation (volunteer, board, etc)? There are over 7,000 nonprofit organizations just in Idaho so take your pick.
Our tribe, Idaho Partners for Good is working on a systemic level in Idaho to support nonprofits that are looking at trying to solve issues not just ameliorate them. We are also approaching our work with an eye toward creating more equitable communities--a place for all to thrive.
We understand our communities deeply, walk with humility, and design solutions with those we invest in. We are driven by our passion to develop stronger, healthier & better equipped nonprofits. Why? So they can do more of what they do best. Come join us!
