Is Idaho Partners for Good a Giving Circle?
My friend Maria Lee invited me recently to attend the anniversary celebration of the Idaho Womenʻs Charitable Foundation at TRICA. They were highlighting the giving circle movement and how much it has grown over the last decade.
A giving circle is a group of individuals who come together to pool their resources, such as money, time, or expertise, and collaboratively decide how to distribute these resources to support charitable causes or nonprofits. This collective approach amplifies the impact of their giving and often fosters a sense of community among donors, encouraging shared values and goals in addressing social or community needs.
Did you know giving circles are distributing $3B+ annually?! It occurred to me that in many ways, Idaho Partners for Good is a giving circle AND so much more. We believe we embody this quote from Philanthropy Together “Together, let’s create a world filled with passionate, empowered people giving collectively and intentionally”. Collectively, we gather donors that through their giving impact the large network of nonprofits that IP4G touches. Intentionally, we approach supporting nonprofits focusing on the end user, keeping the culture and needs of the organization in mind as we assist them.
Shout out to our crew who are doing this daily. Just in the past 90 days we have…

At the event, there were giving circle founders and leaders from Twin Falls, Wood River, North Idaho, and the Boise metro talking about what they are doing and how they are making a difference. It is a good approach AND we are able to help educate the members of these giving circles.
Giving circles are a great way to ensure the democratization of philanthropy in the USA. The missing piece many times is the on-going education of members so they know how to give strategically. This is exactly what we are here for!
