Nonprofit Highlight: Good Samaritan Home
Vision Statement
Our vision at Good Samaritan Home is to enhance stability and self-sufficiency for all.
Mission Statement
Our mission at the Good Samaritan Home is to promote self-sufficiency for Boise residents who make less than 30% of the Area Median Income by providing basic needs such as shelter, food, and safety. We work to enhance stability and self-sufficiency for all, including but not limited to seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities.
Issues Good Samaritan Home Addresses
Housing, Poverty, Food Insecurity, Health. Good Samaritan Home provides income-based rent that includes utilities, three congregate meals a day, and a community where socialization is encouraged. We have seniors, veterans, adults with disabilities, and many other wonderful humans facing homelessness due to a lack of income. We hope to provide a manageable solution for the person and the community. We know the only solution to homelessness is housing, so we take a different approach and help those at risk.
In the next 10 years...
Good Samaritan Home will collect donations and data that will fund a larger building to meet the needs of Boise. The data will be used to share a replicable model that could be used throughout the United States to highlight individual resiliencies and eliminate the potential of homelessness for vulnerable low-income adults.
Why Good Samaritan Home would be a good fit for Idaho Partner for Good's organizational effectiveness grant approach
We at Good Samaritan Home believe every person should have an opportunity to fulfill their basic needs regardless of limitations, disadvantages, trauma, or lack of opportunity. When each person’s needs are met, we understand and recognize the enhancement of our community through equity, resilience, and economic opportunity. We highlight resiliencies and seek to eliminate the potential of homelessness in Boise for vulnerable populations of low-income (<30% AMI) adults.
