Choosing a Mindset of Gratitude
Whatʻs top of mind when you wake up in the morning these days? Is it the news of war in various parts of the world? How about the list of never-ending To-Doʻs that have piled up while you slept? Or, maybe it's the upcoming elections that have you restless? Regardless of where your mind tends to drift first thing in the morning, we all need to intentionally reset our frame of reference so we can keep showing up together for greater good. Because those who are part of Idaho Partners for Good know we are part of a movement that is focused beyond our needs, desires and challenges.
As someone who listens to podcasts daily, there is one recurring theme that I keep picking up no matter the topic…mindsets. We all get to choose the mindset with which we navigate this changing world. For me, every morning I start deliberately by choosing a mindset of gratitude. I was given a gratitude journal for my birthday this year and I made a commitment to myself to show up with a mind and heart set on being thankful. Is it easy? No, because I tend to naturally see whatʻs wrong, whatʻs missing and what needs to be fixed in the world, others and myself.
So, today as I choose gratitude I am so very thankful to those who are on the frontlines of IP4Gʻs groundbreaking work. People like Tom Gattiker who led the capacity building work (plus $45,000 grant) with the Boise Bicycle Project. Eve Lacivita and Heather Gagliano who are in the first year of solution-building with Jesse Tree to design an improved user-friendly Tenant Resource Center. Johanna Oseland, Roma Bose, Megan Hudson, Vicki Stieha, Tom Gattiker, Mike Stefancic and Lantz McGinnis-Brown who successfully tested our Transformational Leadership Cohort model with leaders from JEM Friends, Good Samaritan Housing, and NAMI Idaho. BTW - come join us as we celebrate these leaders for their courage and fortitude.
We have much to be thankful for including the 100+ capacity builders now engaged with us along with a team of more than 20 consultants who help us fund our operations under the Thrive Together consulting enterprise.
I'd like to end this article with a heads-up that weʻve got a lot of strategic efforts to better support Idaho nonprofits in 2024. Come join us! Enjoy this multi-generational resource from Riles & Bash (with printables) to help focus our minds on being grateful for all we have, where we live and the abundance we are blessed with (beautiful Idaho video).
